HMBYC Annual Powerboat Training Event

This 16-hour on-the-water training course is for boaters of all experience levels! Experienced and beginner boaters alike will learn from and enjoy this course. This Safe Powerboat Handling course is NASBLA/CA Boater Card approved. However, certification is not required or guaranteed. Within 6-8 hours of classroom instruction and 6-8 hours of on the water practical instruction we will take you through the basics of how to safely operate a boat, including close-quarters maneuvering basics; docking, pivot turns, using reverse propulsion, and high-speed maneuvering. Students wishing to certify will be assessed based on their practical skills on the water, as well as a written multiple-choice examination at the end of day 2.

If you already have your CA Boater Card, you are not required to take the additional 10-question CA state examination to obtain your certification.

This course is great for students taking the US Sailing Level 1 Instructor course! We teach the skills you will be tested on!
