IntermeDiate Powerboating Course @ SSYC

Nautical Solutions is hosting a Powerboating for the SSYC volunteers, race committee, membership, & non-members. Most of the course will be held on-the-water getting hands-on experience performing skills you would need to safely operate a powerboat around sailors. SSYC is providing the powerboats for this course. You should have some experience operating a boat and be able to perform basic maneuvers (docking, launching, pivot turn, holding position, navigating by sight, anchoring) to safely participate in this course. If you do not have this experience and would like to take a beginner PB course, please reach out to the contacts below.

Areas covered will include:

·        Aiding sailors in a capsized boat

·        Assist in righting or towing a boat to shore

·        Safely transferring people from one boat to another

·        Proper communication with other safety boats

·        Safely operate and position the boat when retrieving sailors from the water

·        Setting and moving marks

Prerequisites:

• At least 16 years old

• NJ boating license (or boating license from state of residence)
